The granules use fenbendazole which targets a range of parasites including;
- Large Roundowrms
- Whipworms
- Hookworms
The medication also destroys some tapeworms, making it a very broad spectrum dog de-wormer.
However, Panacur C is unable to remove the most common tapeworm affecting dogs which is transmitted by fleas. For this reason, it is imperitive that a reliable form of flea prevention, such as K9 Advantix is used regularly.
To work properly, the granules will need to be used for three consecutive days. If the infestation is particularly severe, a further treatment the following weak will be required – your vet will be able to advise you.
Panacur is a prescription free, over the counter de-wormer. It is usually advised that you treat your dog every six months or so to prevent re-infestation. It will though depend on the life-style of your pet, and your location, whether your dog is likely to suffer intestinal parasites regularly. We suggest talking through the risks in your circumstances with your vet and following the worming schedule they advise.
Feline Tapeworm Tablets
Feline tapeworm tablets should be a regular medication given to all cats. Cats are extremely likely to carry tapeworms at some point because the most common type are carried by fleas. Since felines are so good at grooming themselves, they will often ingest fleas and then become host to these intestinal parasites.

Has My Cat Got Tapeworms?
Often there are no real symptoms to speak of regarding a tapeworm infestation. The most common way an owner knows their cat is infected, is when body segments of the parasite are seen on the fur, or on the stools of the pet in question. This is not nice at all, but is often the worst thing about tapeworms.
Symptoms are far more rare than we might think. For some animals a change in appetite might display. This is most often associated with gastric upset caused by the parasites. Mild vomitting or diarhhea are not uncommon, but usually the cat simply won’t seem “quite right” as they cope with stomach pain and sensitivity.
Preventing Feline Tapeworm
Since most tapeworms are passed to cats by fleas, the most important method of prevention is to use a flea treatment regularly, such as Revolution for cats. However this will not completely remove the risk of infestation since tapeworms may also be ingested when eating rodent organs – again not very nice but something we all know many cats will do.
The approach often reccomended is to use a safe tapeworm tablet every few months. Tradewinds tapeworm tabs for dogs work in the same way. Rather than try to flush out the parasites that can lead to even more digestive upset, the key ingredient (praziquantel) breaks down the skin of the parasite. This then makes it easy for the cat to digest the tapeworms (or in some cases for the immune system to destroy them). It is therefore unlikely that you will actually see any evidence of parasites in the stools of your pet after treatment.
Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes + Probiotics
Probiotics for pets can be a surprisingly effective way to deal with bouts of diarrhea or digestive upset. Animal Essentials is different to most. As well as containing good bacteria, enzymes are added to the formula. These can help to do the work of the digestive system, particularly in animals that have lost some of their natural enzymes from the digestive tract.
Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes + Probiotics
The probiotics help restore balance to the digestive system, whilst the enzymes actively break down fats, starch, protein, fiber and cellulose.
Suitable for use in both dogs and cats, the supplement is completely derived from plants (and contains now lactose) making it particularly useful for animals with any dietary intolerances.
Whilst most pets will enjoy good digestive health, some are not so fortunate. Medication, anti-biotics and a weak immune system can also cause inbalance within the digestive tract. Once enzymes are lost it becomes harder for the animal to absorb all the nutrients from its food which of course causes further problems. Adding the enzymes essential for digesting foods fully can really boost the recovery and re-settling of digestion.
